Marino is an author, film maker, media personality, activist, business man and living breathing action figure! In 2008, Gary won the prestigious International Freddie Health & Wellness Award (previously won by Bill Gates, Magic Johnson, Dr. C Everett Koop and ABC’s Peter Jennings).
His entertainment production company Harmon-Marino has produced over 800 live shows and casting showcases for Disney-Touchstone, Carsey-Werner and 20 Century Fox Studios. As a management company Harmon-Marino worked with such artists as comic/actor Matty Blake (NBC’s “30 Rock” Alpha House with John Goodman) frequent White House performer Jon Stetson and comedian Dane Cook in his early Boston days..
But Gary’s career doesn’t stop with the entertainment industry. In 2004, Marino founded Generation Excel, a national non-profit aimed at getting children and adults healthier. With Gen Excel he helmed 4 breathtaking campaigns across the country reaching over 80 million Americans. Campaigns such as 2004’s Million Calorie March, 2005/06’s Million Pound Meltdown and 2008’s Million Step March (in conjunction with Blue Cross Blue Shield) Marino have been featured in USA Today, People Magazine, FOX News as well as 3 appearances on ABC’s “Live With Regis & Kelly”.
His book “Big & Tall Chronicles” was released in-store from Boston to Hawaii by Barnes & Noble Bookstores in the spring of 2005. Gary also produced the award winning docudrama/documentary “Million Calorie March: The Movie” which has screened across the country at film festivals, health & wellness events and was recently offered national broadcast deal.
